Sycamore Speedway FAQs

What time does everything start?

For our 2024 Racing Season:
Hotlaps & Qualifying will begin at 6:45PM on Fridays, and 6:30PM on Saturdays — This usually takes around an hour. Opening Ceremonies will follow the completion of Hotlaps & Qualifying with racing to begin after the ceremonies conclude.

NOTICE: There are a few events that will have different start times, please reference the event details for event-specific details.

NOTICE: Our event calendar shows a different start time, these times reflect when our pit gates open, which is significantly earlier than the start time of the races, as our drivers, staff, and crews have work to complete prior to race time. You are welcome to arrive this early, but we want you to be aware that it could be a couple of hours before you would see any racecars on the racing surface if you arrive at that time.

What are your hours?

This is a tricky question and can have a long answer! Simply put, we are not open to the public during the week.

On Friday Race Nights, the Pit Gates open at 5:00PM, and our General Admission Gates open at 6:00PM.

On Saturday Race Nights, the Pit Gates open at 4:00PM, and our General Admission Gates open at 6:00PM.

On Sundays, we reserve these days for our families, and are not open – Please also note that you may not receive a response to our social media pages until Monday.

Is camping allowed?

Yes! You are more than welcome to camp in our parking lots overnight, however, there are no hookups.

On multi-night shows or big events, stand-alone campers (not tow vehicles) may be restricted to our front parking lots only and may not be allowed to park next to your hauler in the pit area to ensure enough space for racing haulers and pit equipment.

Do you accept credit cards?

Yes! We do accept credit cards at our Souvenir Stand, Concession Stands, Pit Shack, Beer Garden, and Ticket Gates, however, please bear in mind that credit surcharges will apply, no exceptions.

Is there an ATM?

We do have an ATM located on-site, which can be found in our main general admission gate tunnel, located at the main Sycamore Speedway building.

There is also an ATM located in the Winner’s Circle Bar & Grill, which is located directly west of Sycamore Speedway, off of McGough Road.

Do you allow outside food or drink?

Sycamore Speedway does not allow outside food or drink to enter the general concourse. We offer a wide variety of food and drink options at our Concession Stands located behind the grandstands.

Can children go into the pits?

You must be 14 years old to have a full-access pit pass, which includes access to the inner pit area, outer grass pits, and the grandstands.

Fast passes are available for children ages 5-13, and grants access to the outer grass pit area and the grandstands.

All children under the age of 17 — must have a minor release on file if they are going into any part of the pit area. This form can be downloaded here, or be found at the Pit Shack on race nights.

Will my young child enjoy the Speedway?

Racing is a sport for all ages! Some may find that it is a little noisy and dusty, so feel free to bring/wear appropriate attire for this.

If you happen to not have any or forget, we do sell these types of items in our full souvenir stand, located behind the grandstands.

Can I pre-purchase tickets and reserve my seats?

Yes, we offer advanced ticket sales for all of our events, however, we do not have reserved seating. Advanced ticket sales can be found in each event under the event details. Tickets can also be purchased at the gate on the evening of the event.

Do you offer group discounts?

Yes! We offer group discounts for groups of 20 or more. For more information, please contact us via email at  or through our contact forms on our website.

Why would the races get canceled?

There are several reasons that we may not be able to race at all, or not complete an entire night of events once we have started.

1. Sycamore Speedway is a clay track, and too much water can make the racing surface unsafe for our drivers.
2. It is raining out, and we are a complete outdoor facility and event.
3. It can take time for the track to dry out, and sometimes what may feel like a little sprinkle can ruin a clay race track.

How would I know if the races have been cancelled?

We strive to get the cancellation notices out as best as we can.

What is the official rain out policy once the races have started?

In the event of sudden rain showers, the track starter will temporarily suspend the races; however, every effort will be made to complete the races after the rain stops. If, in the opinion of Speedway Officials, the weather will prevent the return of a safe racing condition within a reasonable amount of time, the remaining races will be cancelled or postponed as follows:

– The program will be considered complete (no rain checks) if 4 or more events, not including time trials, have been run.
– If a special event was rained out, the special event may be added to the next week’s race show.
– In the event of rain or any circumstances beyond the control of the Speedway Officials, the race may be declared complete or continued at the discretion of the officials in charge.
– If the program is not considered complete (see no. 1), your ticket stub or pit pass wristband will serve as a rain check for another race held within the next 2 race nights unless otherwise stated by Sycamore Speedway Management.
